The concept of Colo changes the conventional handling of the dishwasher.
It is a reduction of the machine to the essential - oriented to the user.
Colo merges the machine with the sink. There is also a reduction in the effort of operation. The dishes no longer have to be sorted individually, but are placed in the sink by trays that also serve as shelves.
Through surveys, with resulting statistics, observation through video and images, and examination of the history and evolution of the kitchen, the kitchen space was defined and better understood. This research revealed that while the dishwasher has come a long way technologically, the handling and design has remained essentially the same.
By testing various prototypes, a new dishwasher concept was slowly worked towards that minimized effort and space consumption. Models were used to work out the optimum size and the highest possible weight of the trays. In addition, it was important that no major intervention be made to the kitchen itself in order to integrate the new concept. The sink therefore has roughly the same dimensions as a standard sink on the market and can therefore be integrated into any household.
