Re
Object / Concept
2013
The aim of the object Re is to lead to a spiritual feeling.
It serves as a catalyst for a return to the mystical. Man is to be brought into connection with the felt great whole - so that the complexity of the world is reduced in its overwhelming effect.
At the latest with the first technical-industrial revolution, man feels himself to be the shaper of the future, no longer determined by the eternal powers of nature and the cosmos. Tomorrow is understood less and less as fate, but appears determinable and shapeable.
However, the medical progress achieved since the late 20th century is no longer sufficient to adequately cope with the dynamics and complexity of modern life with its high demands on the mental and spiritual powers of man. The economic losses, damages and costs measured by this can be seen as the emergence of new factors that are the consequences of mental, social and spiritual disorders and diseases.
Precisely because of the complexity that arises from this, signposts are needed to guide us through the complexity of everyday life. This also applies to the desires for harmony, meaning in life and spiritual support.
We will be able to amplify our body, we will adapt thinking helpers, but our actual mind/being will remain alone.
Technology is increasingly misused here as a beacon of hope for personal happiness, physical health and spiritual self-discovery. Belief in technology replaces belief in a natural connection to the cosmos. Technology becomes the omniscient God into whose hands we place our lives.
For a real freedom and satisfaction of our being, a space must be created in which man finds himself alone.
This free space is ideally in the consciousness of the person, such as in meditation or prayer, independent of devices, places or situations. This space within can be created by a hint of the possibility of a feeling. This stimulus to a "spiritual" rest can be given through an object or place, which awakens a view of the importance of this hidden longing for such a retreat in one's consciousness.
In rituals, early people felt the existential ground under their feet: rituals possessed the power to bring order to a world that otherwise could not be mastered.
